Venue & day-of contacts

Thank you for helping make our day special. Here are the key musical moments we'd love you to guide.

General notes
  • The Spotify playlists are at the bottom of this page for quick uploading and easy reference. They’re in no particular order.
  • Bride’s request: Please do not play anything by Rihanna, or any silly group dance songs (for example, the Electric Slide, YMCA, the Chicken Dance, etc.).
  • There won’t be any father-daughter, mother-son, bridal party entrance (other than the bride and groom), or dollar dance songs.
  • Lighting: The reception hall should have uplighting along the wall perimeter in magenta and violet hues. See example photos.
  • There is already a disco ball set up in the venue.

Timeline

4:30 to 5:00 pm
Ceremony seating
  • Please play a mix of indie, nostalgia, and country songs from our suggested playlists (embedded below).
  • Guests were told on the invite to arrive at 4:30 pm, so we might have early birds a little before then. Ushers will be in place around 4:15–4:20 pm (ish).
  • For mobility and health reasons, the family of the bride and groom will seat themselves with the rest of the guests whenever they’re ready. They will not be making a formal entrance, so no special music is needed for their seating.
4:50 pm
Pre-Ceremony
  • Start at 4:50 pm, or a little later if the wedding party needs more time to get ready. Jaclyn will guide you on when the bridal party is ready.
  • Lead-in songs, in this order:
    1. “Starting Over”, Chris Stapleton (4:00)
    2. “Invisible String”, Taylor Swift (4:12)
    3. “Ready or Not”, Shakey Graves, Sierra Ferrell (3:12)
5:00 pm
Ceremony
  • Processional: Ryleigh McLarty performs “A Thousand Years” (Christina Perri version) (4:45) live, to a backing track. Meg sent a copy of the track to emaldona1200@gmail.com on 10/26 around 4:15 pm.
  • After the ceremony: There is no recessional. Please play anything upbeat. The photographer will take bridal party photos at the altar while cocktail hour begins.
5:30 pm (ish) to 6:15 pm
Cocktail hour
  • Low-volume mix of the Indie Music (Meg’s Favs) and Country, Classic Rock and Nostalgia Songs playlists.
6:15 to 6:25 pm
Guests head into the reception hall to find their seats
  • No bridal party entrance music.
6:25 pm
Bride & Groom entrance, then buffet trivia
  • The officiant, Travis McLarty, briefly introduces the bridesmaids and groomsmen.
  • Travis makes a guest book announcement inviting folks to leave a message at the audio guest book: at least one message for each drink they enjoy.
  • The officiant then announces the Bride and Groom.
  • Entrance song for the Bride and Groom: “Feathered Indians”, Tyler Childers (3:44).
  • The officiant introduces Jake Williamson, who asks trivia questions about the bride and groom. The first table to answer correctly heads to the buffet line. This keeps the buffet from getting rushed and keeps guests engaged while they learn fun facts about the couple.
  • It’s fine to play quieter music in the background (e.g. big band, nostalgic music, oldies) while Jake is MC’ing the trivia.
6:50 pm (ish)
Bride & Groom first dance
  • The Bride & Groom share their first dance (Jake Williamson to announce).
  • Approx. 3 minutes after the last table is invited to the buffet: “Wondering Why”, The Red Clay Strays (3:52).
7:40 to 7:55 pm
Speeches
8:00 pm
Cake cutting
  • The Bride & Groom cut the cake (Jake Williamson announces).
  • “La Vie En Rose”, Louis Armstrong (3:24)
8:05 pm
Champagne toast at the cake
  • The groom thanks everyone for coming.
8:10 to 8:30 pm
Cake and dessert are served
8:20 pm
Anniversary couples dance
  • “You’re Still The One”, Shania Twain (3:32)
  • While guests enjoy dessert.
  • Jake Williamson to announce the dance.
  • DJ E-Roc then to announce milestones as the song goes (since Jake Williamson will be dancing). Couples who don’t meet each one leave the dance floor. For example:
    • “If you’ve been married more than 3 years, please stay on the floor. If not, we ask that you please be seated.”
    • “If you’ve been married more than 5 years...”
    • “If you’ve been married more than 10 years...”
    • And so on, up to 50 years. We know the groom’s mother and father will remain, since they just celebrated their 50th anniversary this year!
8:25 pm
Bouquet and garter tosses
  • The Bride tosses the bouquet and the Groom tosses the garter (announced by Jake Williamson).
  • The groom will not remove the bride’s garter. Instead, he’ll toss a Texas Rangers “moneyball” wrapped in lotto tickets and secured with a garter.
8:35 pm
Group photo on the dance floor
  • The photographer takes a group photo of everyone on the dance floor (Jake Williamson to announce this).
  • During the photo: “Happy”, Pharrell Williams (3:53).
  • Immediately after it’s taken: “Let’s Dance”, David Bowie (2002 Remaster) (4:05).
8:40 to 8:45 pm (ish)
Open dancing begins
  • Stick to songs on the playlists below and you’ll be golden.
10:00 pm
Peak of the dance floor
  • Please keep the energy at its highest around this time.
10:30 pm
Bar stops serving
10:40 pm
Last remaining songs
  • If people are still partying, keep it upbeat until the slow final song, at your discretion.
10:47 pm
Last song
  • “The Dance”, Garth Brooks (3:40)

Important: “The Dance” isn’t on Spotify. Please download it ahead of the event and make sure it’s the original Garth Brooks recording, not a cover.

10:50 pm
Guests are escorted outside for fireworks
  • Please have Travis McLarty and Jake Williamson announce this. They will help shepherd everyone outside.
